Diagnostic ultrasound, also called sonography is an imaging method that uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of structure with in your pet’s body. Using a transducer (a small hand held wand), sound waves are aimed towards the internal organ to be scanned. These sound waves bounce back and are recorded. The visible images are assessed, measured and compared to other normal organ structures to determine if there are any diseases that may need further investigation.
